Community guidelines
Prouva only works if reviews are honest and fair. These guidelines keep the platform useful and safe for everyone. They sit alongside our Terms of Service, which is the binding version.
What makes a good review
- Only review a provider you've genuinely dealt with.
- Stick to facts and your own first-hand experience.
- Be specific — what you needed, what happened, and the outcome.
- Be fair: mention what went well as well as what didn't.
Not allowed
- Fake, incentivised or paid-for reviews, or coordinated campaigns.
- Reviewing your own business, a competitor, or somewhere you're connected to.
- Abuse, threats, harassment, hate or discrimination.
- Statements you know to be false, or accusing someone of a crime or dishonesty without a concrete factual basis.
- Sharing anyone's private personal details.
- Spam, advertising, or using multiple accounts to sway ratings.
For providers
- Claim your profile and keep your details accurate.
- Use your right of reply professionally — respond to feedback, never retaliate.
- Don't ask for, incentivise or pay for reviews. If a review is unfair or breaks these rules, report it instead.
How we keep it fair
- We help phrase reviews around the facts and strip out emotive or unsupported language, but you approve every word before it's posted — it stays your statement.
- Reviews backed by a quote, invoice or contract can be marked Verified and carry more weight; serious allegations get a human review.
- A Verified business means we've checked who they are — not a guarantee of quality. Always use your own judgement.
- Providers always have a right of reply.
Removing a listing or reviews
Honest reviews stay — good or bad. Being listed, or claiming and verifying a profile, does not give a right to delete lawful reviews, or to remove a listing, simply because the feedback is unflattering. Here is how it works:
- Reply, don't erase — providers can respond publicly to any review about them.
- Report a specific review you believe is false or breaks these guidelines; we assess every report and remove content that is unlawful or against our rules.
- A provider can stop managing (un-claim) their listing at any time — but honest reviews remain part of the public record.
- Genuine data-protection requests about your own personal data are handled under the Data Protection Act 2017, separately from review removal.
- We verify identity on removal requests to stop abuse — verification confirms who you are, not a right to delete.
Reporting
See something that breaks these guidelines? Use the Report option on any review, or contact us. Every report is logged and reviewed in good faith: we assess it fairly and take a proportionate action — adding context, inviting the provider's reply, or removing content that is unlawful or breaks these rules.
Legal note
These guidelines supplement, and do not replace, the Terms of Service. Unlawful content — including content that is defamatory within the meaning of articles 1382 to 1384 of the Civil Code of Mauritius or the Criminal Code, or that contravenes the Information and Communication Technologies Act 2001 — will be removed and may be reported to the competent authorities.
